DESCRIPTION

Helen O Murchu discusses nature and the world in her new book Scéalta na nÉanlaithe: visits and visitors (Spiritual Matters Publications). It's a story aimed at young people but an adult could learn a new thing or two about ecology. Naoise meets the reader while visiting grandparents. They have a big garden and Brid is looking after it. She has a keen interest in the birds and plants in her care and, indeed, in the entire world. She encourages Naoise reluctantly to take an interest in what he sees with his own eyes and what he hears with his own ears. She, in turn, puts the wonder of creativity in front of him.

The book contains excerpts from Laudato Si in italics, depicting Brigid's attitude towards the universe. There are full color pictures of native birds and visitors. There are also elegant black and white illustrations by Anna Ní Ghiolla Pheadair and some maps that give an insight into the world in which we live. The more Naoise visits the garden, the more he understands his planet: "But are there any other birds in this garden?" Brigid just grabbed his ear and put a hand over his mouth. “Sshh, and listen. Open your ears. ” Good advice!

Sshh and read!
