What are the best, most important, most central novels in Irish? What are the Irish novels which should be in the centre of attention in the Irish speaking world? Which ones should we read, or study in university? Which one is the literary cannon of Irish novels in the twentieth century? What are the big Irish classics? What is the significance of any literary cannon? A half-day seminar was organised on the 23-24th April 2015 in Dublin, to comb through these questions. Sixteen novels were eventually chosen, and inside the covers of this book is a taster of what was said about them.
