Having worked abroad, Naoise returns to his home village as an adult, intending to repay his grandmother for her kindness to him as a young boy and to make her proud by fulfilling a rowing dream for her. He learns that while the rowing competition is important it is not the thing she values most and that her heart’s desire is to see her grandson happy. This story explores the importance of second chances and how a shared passion for a traditional sport nurtures friendship between young and old and how both generations deal with old age and loss.
